Privacy Policy
Branchly is a self-hosted WordPress plugin. It runs entirely on your own server, and we built it so that your visitor traffic and domain mappings never pass through us. This policy explains the limited data we handle when you install, license, and get support for the plugin.
Scope of this policy
This policy covers getbranchly.com (our website), the licensing and account system, and the support channels we operate. It does not cover how the plugin processes traffic on your own WordPress installation — that data stays on your infrastructure and is governed by your own privacy policy.
Information we collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you interact with us, that may include:
- Account & license data - your name, email address, and the license key issued when you purchase a plan.
- Billing details - handled by our payment processor; we store only the last four digits of the card, the billing country, and invoice records required for tax.
- License activation pings - when the plugin checks that a license is valid, it sends the license key, the site URL it is activated on, and the plugin version.
- Support correspondence - anything you choose to send us when you open a ticket or post on the forums.
- Website analytics - privacy-friendly, cookieless aggregate metrics about page visits to getbranchly.com.
Purchases and licensing
Branchly uses Freemius as its e-commerce, licensing, and payment platform.
When purchasing, activating, or updating the plugin, certain information may be transmitted to Freemius, including:
- License key
- Website domain
- Plugin version
- WordPress version
- PHP version
- Server environment details required for compatibility and licensing
Payments are processed securely through Freemius and its payment partners. We do not store your full payment card information.
You can review Freemius’ Privacy Policy here:
How we use information
We use the information above only to:
- Issue, validate, and renew your license.
- Deliver plugin updates and security notices.
- Provide support and answer your questions.
- Process payments and meet our legal and tax obligations.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Website analytics
We may collect anonymous usage statistics and website analytics to help improve our website and products.
This information may include:
- Pages visited
- Referring websites
- Browser type
- Approximate geographic location
- Device type
What the plugin does on your site
Branchly maps domains to WordPress pages and provisions SSL. All of that happens on your server. The plugin does not transmit your visitors’ page views, form submissions, or content to Branchly. The only outbound request it makes to us is the periodic license check described above, which contains no visitor data.
Sharing & processors
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the business — a payment processor for billing, an email provider for transactional messages, and our hosting provider. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve user experience and analyze traffic.
You may disable cookies through your browser settings, although certain features may not function properly.
Third-party services
We may use third-party services for:
- Licensing and payments (Freemius)
- Website hosting
- Analytics
- Email delivery
- Customer support
These providers process information according to their own privacy policies.
Data retention
We keep account and license records for as long as your license is active, and invoices for as long as tax law requires. Support tickets are retained for up to 24 months. You can ask us to delete your account data at any time, subject to those legal retention limits.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to certain processing activities
To exercise these rights, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
